Community Outreach

What is community outreach?

The Office of Human Rights and Human Rights Commission are responsible for conducting three kinds of community outreach, according to the Charlottesville Human Rights Ordinance. These include:

    • Providing information to the public regarding the services provided by the Office of Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission;
    • Hosting or participating in educational events for the purpose of raising public awareness around human rights issues and protections;
    • Facilitating, leading, or participating in collaborative meetings and events with community partners for the purpose of addressing human rights issues.

The Office of Human Rights and members of the Human Rights Commission attend and assist in organizing community events and other initiatives related to human and civil rights in Charlottesville.

If you would like to collaborate or would like us to attend your event, please contact humanrights@charlottesville.gov with more information.
