Captain Haney is Commander for the Professional Standards Division. He currently supervises the Internal Affairs Unit, 4th Amendment Analyst, and the Hiring and Training Bureau.
He has served in many roles at the Department such as Field Operations, Hiring/Accreditation, School Resource Supervisor, Strategic Policing Unit, Support Service Commander, General Investigations Commander, and Office of Professional Standards Commander. He previously served as the Public Housing/Minority Community Liaison for the Charlottesville Police Department.
Captain Haney has served with the Charlottesville Police Department since 2002. Having served in multiple roles within the Department; he placed an emphasis on building relationships with community members. He has helped plan community-based events like Cops 4 Kids, Charlottesville Night Out, and the Citizens Police Academy.
