There will be a nighttime full closure of Emmet St near Ivy Rd on July 9-10 and July 12-16 during the hours of 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Massie Rd and Copeley Rd. A detour will be in place during the full road closures that will require traffic to utilize Massie Road and Copeley Road to route around the work area.
Directional Services Inc. (DSI) will be working for the City of Charlottesville’s Department of Utilities along Emmet Street near the intersection of Ivy Road . The contractor will be relocating a natural gas pipeline from the west side of Emmet Street (Old Cavalier Inn Side) to the east side (Carr’s Field Side) of Emmet Street to accommodate the University of Virginia’s Ivy Corridor Project.
Daytime closures
The work will also require a partial lane closure during the daytime hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting June 28, 2021 with an anticipated completion date on or before July 31, 2021. During this period at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times. The west sidewalk at this location will be closed and pedestrians will be detoured across the street at Massie Rd and Ivy Rd crosswalks.
