[ARCHIVED] One Person Injured Following Shots Fired Incident on Prospect Avenue

On May 4, 2021, at 11:35 p.m., Charlottesville Police Officers heard gunshots in the area of the 700 block of Prospect Avenue and immediately responded. The firing continued, resulting in multiple calls into the Emergency Communications Center (911).

Upon their arrival, officers located five bullet casings and one firearm. Multiple vehicles and one apartment in the Greenstone on 5th community were struck by the gunfire. A Charlottesville resident was struck by the gunfire and transported to UVA Hospital. The victim is currently listed in stable condition. 

This case, along with the other recent shootings remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charlottesville Police Department at (434) 970-3280, or Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest. 

Every person is entitled to a presumption of innocence until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
