The Charlottesville Police Department would like to remind the community to stay safe on and off of the roads during this winter storm. Streets and sidewalks will likely become treacherous, which will make any type of travel extremely difficult. If you must travel, please drive slowly and allow extra time to arrive at your destination.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

  • The City of Charlottesville Public Works crews have been clearing streets all day Thursday. Road conditions at 5p.m. vary from poor to moderate. Secondary roads are largely untouched at this point. Crews will be working with a fully staffed night shift to continue working primary and secondary roads.
Stay off the snowy and icy roads if possible, but if you have to go out remember: Ice and snow, take it slow—slower speed, slower acceleration, slower steering, and slower braking. #WinterSafety.
