[ARCHIVED] Mail Ballot Drop Boxes Available at all Polling Places on Election Day

Charlottesville_City_Seal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 26, 2020

On Election Day, November 3, Charlottesville City Voters may deliver their voted mail ballots to drop boxes available at all City Polling Places from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

  • CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY voters should utilize mail ballot drop boxes within the Charlottesville City voting locality. Charlottesville City voters should not deliver their voted mail ballots to the Albemarle County Voter Registration Office or an Albemarle County polling place. Mail ballots delivered to the incorrect locality on Election Day will likely not count due to missing the deadline.
  • Prior to inserting a mail ballot into a mail ballot drop box, voters must enclose their voted ballot in the sealed ENVELOPE B and complete the Statement of Voter on the outside of Envelope B. Ballots received without an Envelope B will be rejected. A loose, disassociated ballot found in the drop box cannot be checked in or counted.  It is also strongly recommended that voters place Envelope B (with ballot enclosed) inside the return envelope provided in the mail ballot package prior to inserting a ballot into a drop box.
  • Voters who are casting in-person ballots on Election Day must insert their ballots into the precinct scanner. IN-PERSON BALLOTS issued at the polling place should NEVER be inserted into a mail ballot drop box. In-person ballots placed into a mail ballot drop box will be considered abandoned.
  • The mail ballot drop box located at the Charlottesville Office of Voter Registration is available from now until 7:00 PM on Election Day to receive voted mail ballots.
