On August 31, 2020, at approximately 1046 hours, Charlottesville Police Department officers responded to a two-vehicle, motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Emmet Street and Barracks Road.
The two occupants in the Toyota Camry were transported to UVA Hospital. The driver of the Toyota was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Toyota, Peter Norwood Stahl, an 87-year-old resident of Albemarle County, who was not wearing a seatbelt, later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Chevy Suburban was uninjured.
This incident remains under investigation by the Charlottesville Police Department Traffic Unit; however, charges are pending.
