“City Market To-Go” will be moving to Darden Towe Park starting Saturday, June 13 for the summer months
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Charlottesville “City Market To-Go” will be moving to Darden Towe Park starting Saturday, June 13 for the summer months. The drive-thru version of the popular City Market has been operating at Pen Park since April, but will be relocating to Darden Towe as it has outgrown its space at Pen Park and as park use and activities increase, it was necessary to find a larger and more effective location.
The move to Darden Towe Park is possible thanks to a partnership with Albemarle County Parks & Recreation who manages the park. Albemarle County announced that it would not be holding special events at Darden Towe Park during the summer months, so this opened up the availability of using the park for the City Market To-Go on Saturday mornings.
“City Market is a summer institution for so many in our community and we welcome the opportunity to support the market’s success as it adapts to present restrictions,” shared Bob Crickenberger, Director of Parks & Recreation for Albemarle County.
Other than the pick-up location changing to Darden Towe Park, all other procedures and processes for City Market To-Go will remain the same. The market will continue to operate at Darden Towe Park during the summer months. A decision on when and where to relocate the market after the summer will be decided at a later date and dependent on public health and safety risks.
City Market To-Go Details
Customers must pre-order and pay online and vendors will prepare the orders for drive-thru pick-up at Darden Towe Park during the regular City Market hours of Saturdays, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. For everyone’s safety, customers must remain in their cars and no on-site or walk-up sales will be permitted.
