Todd Brown promoted to Director of Charlottesville Parks & Recreation
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - City Manager Tarron Richardson announces the appointment of Todd Brown as the City’s Director of Parks & Recreation.
Mr. Brown was hired as Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation in September of 2019. Shortly after being appointed to the position of Deputy Director, Mr. Brown was asked to serve as Interim Director following the retirement of the former Director.
Mr. Brown is a graduate of Strayer University where he received a degree in Business Administration. He also has more than 29-years of experience within the Parks and Recreation profession. Over the past 17-years, Mr. Brown worked for Fairfax County as the Parks Division Director. Mr. Brown was responsible for the management of 420 parks that included athletic fields, trails, courts, open space, playgrounds, shelters, recreational facilities and capital equipment.
“I am extremely proud of the many contributions that Mr. Brown has made since his hiring last September,” said Richardson. “Mr. Brown has done a wonderful job serving in the capacity of Interim Director and I am grateful that he accepted this promotional opportunity to become Director. He is a welcome addition to our leadership team and the Department of Parks and Recreation.”

Mr. Brown will begin in his new position as Director on June 4, 2020. He will report to Deputy City Manager Paul Oberdorfer.
