CPD Response to Impending Video Release
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) has been briefed by law enforcement partners regarding five officers who have been fired and charged in Memphis, Tennessee.
We understand that a video containing disturbing content will soon be released. The contents of this video are not by any means reflective of the values of the officers of the Charlottesville Police Department. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and disappointed in the actions that were displayed that day.
We have been communicating with regional law enforcement and emergency management partners to ensure that the community’s First Amendment right to demonstrate and peacefully protest is protected.
