Shots Fired Report: 14th St. NW


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – On December 18th at approximately 2:20 a.m., Charlottesville police officers responded to the 100 block of 14th St. NW for a shots fired report.


One male victim was transported to the University of Virginia medical center for the treatment of a gunshot wound. As officers conduct their investigation, there will be an increased police presence in the area. This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time.

Update 12/19/2022 @ 10:56 A.M.

The Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Anthony Paige, a 28-year-old resident of Charlottesville, Virginia. Paige is wanted for a shooting that occurred on the 100 block of 14th Street NW on the morning of December 18, 2022.  

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Paige is encouraged to contact Detective Raines with CPD at (434) 970-3280 or Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.

Update 12/20/2022 @ 2:15 P.M.

With the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Staunton Police Department, Anthony Marcus Paige and Miriah Shavone Smith have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting that occurred on the 100 block of 14th St. NW on December 18, 2022. Paige, a 28-year-old resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, was served warrants for felony malicious wounding, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within 1000 feet of a school. 

Also arrested was Miriah Shavone Smith, a 30-year-old female resident of Staunton, Virginia. Smith was served with a warrant for felony malicious wounding, principal in the second degree. This incident continues to be investigated by the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD).
