CPD Provides Update for Recent Shootings


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Charlottesville Police Department provides the following information regarding two recent shooting incidents in the City.

On March 19, 2022 the Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Prospect Ave. Upon arrival officers recovered several items of evidence. Through the course of the investigation a suspect was quickly identified. 

Subsequently warrants were obtained for 22 year old City of Charlottesville resident, Jalen Maurice Fitch (pictured to the left). He is currently wanted for the following Charges:

Violation of Virginia Criminal Codes:

(18.2-308.2) Poss. Firearm by Convicted Felon

(18.2-154) – Maliciously shoot at occupied vehicle

(18.2-280) – 3 charges of Shooting in Public Place 

 

On March 20th, Charlottesville Police officers responded to a shooting at the Fry Springs Beach Club. Numerous items of evidence were recovered at the scene, multiple witness identified, and several vehicles struck by gunfire. Two adult males sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Through the course of the investigation it has been determined that multiple shooters were involved. While the investigation is continuing and will be for the foreseeable future, two arrests have been made already. Charlottesville Police have identified and arrested two City of Charlottesville residents with firearms offenses related to this investigation:

23 year old / Rymese Tremaine Walker – Violation of Virginia Criminal Code: (18.2-308.2) Poss. Firearm by Convicted Felon.

25 year old / Miracle Octayvis Sims - Violation of Virginia Criminal Code: (18.2-308.2) Poss. Firearm by Convicted Felon & (18.2-290) Unlawful possession of a Machine Gun.

Multiple other persons of interest have been identified through this large-scale investigation. Additional Charges are pending.
