CFD Captains Graduate Virginia Officer Academies
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Two Charlottesville Fire Department captains graduated from the Virginia Fire Officer and Virginia Chief Officer Academy last week.
Captain Lance Blakey attended the Virginia Chief Officer Academy held near Smith Mountain Lake from October 17-22, 2001. During the same time period, Captain Bradley McDaniel attended the Virginia Fire Officer Academy at the same facility. Both residency-based academies build upon career experience and help fire service professionals identify professional gaps, create professional goals, and work closely with other members of their cohort. Each morning starts early with physical fitness training to instill the importance of healthy practices within the leadership of the Virginia Fire Services.
Throughout the remainder of the day, the fire service professionals work with instructors and develop their practices in human resource management, conflict resolution, and work to align their practices with the 16 Life Safety Initiatives published by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's "Everyone Goes Home" program.
CFD congratulates Bradley and Lance on their success in their programs and we are happy they are back home in the Cville community with their family.
