City Hall lobby to reopen on a limited basis by appointment only for in-person transactions with Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office and City Treasurer’s Office

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On July 20, 2020, the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office and City Treasurer’s Office will reopen on a limited basis for in-person transactions by appointment only. Given social distancing requirements and limitations on the number of staff who can be in the building together at any given time, this represents the first stage in a phased reopening of City Hall.  Controls aimed to keep staff and the pubic safe are being implemented. Appointments will be taken by phone and online beginning on Thursday, July 16th.

Commissioner of the Revenue services available by appointment include business tax inquiries, relief program applications, Virginia State Income Tax assistance, and personal property (vehicle) tax inquiries.

Treasurer’s Office services available by appointment include DMV Select, and City payment transactions such as utilities, taxes, trash decals, and zone parking applications.

To make an appointment with the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office by phone (beginning on Thursday, July 16th) contact 434-970-3160.  To schedule an appointment online, use the scheduling link available on Thursday, July 16th at the Commissioner of the Revenue’s website at www.charlottesville.gov/COR.

To make an appointment with the Treasurer’s Office by phone (beginning on Thursday, July 16th) contact 434-970-3146.  To schedule an appointment online, use the scheduling link available on Thursday, July 16th at the Treasurer’s website at www.charlottesville.gov/TREASURER.

Once reservations are available, they can be made for time slots from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day starting on Monday, July 20th.

Details for the reopening of other City facilities will be issued as controls to keep staff and the public safe are put in place.
