Charlottesville Provides Funding for Public Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – First launched in 2013, Charlottesville’s Electric Vehicle Charging Grant Program has helped bring public Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) to City residents and visitors. Electric vehicle adoption has increased rapidly within Charlottesville and surrounding communities, and the availability of reliable public charging locations is essential to continued growth in the EV market. In recognition of the increasing importance of publicly available charging, Charlottesville has relaunched its EV Charging Grant Program, with increased funding amounts to further incentivize deployment of new charging stations.
In order to maximize economic benefits to the community, preference is given to charging locations located near retail and commercial sites, allowing EV drivers to patronize local establishments while charging their vehicles. Grant amounts cover up to $4,000 for Level 2 charger installation, and up to $10,000 for DCFC installation. Further information on eligibility criteria and the grant application form can be found on the City Climate Program’s website.
