Taxes Due Monday, June 5, 2023
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville tax deadline for Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills is Monday, June 5th. Tax bills for the first half of 2023 have been mailed. If you have not received your tax bill, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at 434-970-3146 or citytreas@charlottesville.gov before the due date. Electronic copies of tax bills are available on the City’s website at https://www.charlottesville.gov/551/City-Treasurer. There are a variety of payment options available, including online, telephone, mail, drop box, or in-person payments. Tax payments may be made online using ACH/E-Check at no charge to taxpayers. Online payments made via credit card will incur a third-party processing fee.
If you are experiencing a financial hardship or would like to set up a payment plan for your tax liability, please contact the Treasurer’s Office prior to the due date. Taxes on all personal property items are prorated based on the date that the item was registered with the DMV as garaged in the City of Charlottesville. If you have sold, moved, or purchased a vehicle since January 1, 2023, and have not notified the Commissioner of Revenue, please call (434) 970-3160. The City’s online portal, powered by Invoice Cloud, is a self-service portal allowing taxpayers to view their bill, schedule payments, enroll in e-billing, and sign up for text-to-pay.
