Membership

7 members total: at least one (1) City Councilor; at least two (2) current Residents of Public Housing; the remaining members shall be Citizens At-Large. Members must be  interviewed by Council and sworn in by Clerk of Circuit Court.

Term

3 years (2 term limit)

Purpose

The Commissioners serve as the governing body of the Authority which is an independent political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Commissioners establish policy for the operation of the Authority and approve budgets, contracts and take other official action as appropriate. The Authority owns and operates the City’s public housing, manages the urban renewal program and conducts rehabilitation loans and other related activities.
