The City of Charlottesville has over 170 miles of gravity wastewater lines and over 5,500 manholes. This system collects the wastewater from residential areas and businesses, transporting it to the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority's Moore's Creek Treatment Plant. Charlottesville Wastewater maintains the collection system through general maintenance and emergency situations 24 hours a day.
