Unity Days Event: Performing History: Sally Hemings in the Artist Imagination

This event is put on by Victory Hall Opera.

Some people are inseparable for our collective consciousness. And Sally Hemings is one such figure. Despite limited historical records on her, Sally Hemings has emerged as one of the most influential figures of our time—sparking rigorous discourse and beautiful works of art. In conjunction with the premiere of "Sally on West Main" on the 25th, a panel of America’s most original thinkers will join us to share their insights into why her life and legacy are so resonant now more than ever. ▸ Free members, guests welcome.

Featuring playwright Sandra Seaton (From the Diary of Sally Hemings), multimedia artist Marisa Williamson (UVA Ruffin Distinguished Artist-in-Residence), soprano Alyson Cambridge (Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall), moderated by actor/director/writer Leslie M. Scott-Jones (Charlottesville Players Guild, Capital Fringe Festival).
